I like my FTDX10 but don't use all the features and wish it had better ergonomics, and was a bit cheaper. So the 710 sounds good. At least as good as a 7300. It's no hybrid but it is a newer SDR design. Only downside is Icom have superior menus in my opinion.EQ 1 - 400Hz, -5, +4. EQ2 - 1200Hz, +5, 0. EQ3 - 2300Hz, +6, 0. 9. The stock mic position is critical. You should find the right spot if you listen, but mine is about 2" from my mouth and centered. It does seem to pick up a lot of breath noise, but I'm not sure if it can be heard on the other end. 10.Featurewise, the 710 will sit between the 991A and the FTDX10 so it may be the more natural price point going forward minus any additional inflationary, or global supply chain adjustments upward. Yaesu makes the three different watt level versions for the Japanese license class in the FTDX10. ( Yes, button/dial layout and menu system are valid reasons to go with the 7300 instead ) Perhaps a good product for Icom to develop would be an HF/VHF/UHF amplifier one could pair up with the IC-705..
